The following information is a brief overview of our general terms and conditions of hire. For a full copy please click here.

Price

All prices quoted are based on a maximum 40 hour 5-day working week and exclude VAT and transport costs. Any hours worked in excess of a 40 hour week will be charged pro-rata.

Transport

The hirer shall pay the cost of transport to and from UK Forks nearest distribution depot to the hirer's site.

Servicing & inspection

General maintenance (excluding tyres, glass and damage due to negligence) and service inspections are included in the hire rate. The hirer should allow UK Forks or an approved sub-contractor to have access to the equipment to inspect, test, repair or replace at all reasonable times.

Insurance

It is the responsibility and at the expense of the hirer throughout the hire period to effect and maintain insurance in relation to the equipment with a reputable insurance company. Such insurance shall be an amount equal to the full new replacement value of the equipment and on fully comprehensive terms (including third party liability) against loss or damage from any cause whatsoever, including but without limitation, all risk of third party liability arising out of transport, presence or use of the equipment.

Handling of equipment

It is also the responsibility of the hirer to ensure that all personnel who operate the equipment supplied by UK Forks are to be in the employment of the hirer, deemed to be over the age of 18 and are competent. CTA qualified (or equivalent standard) and that they are also covered by the hirers personal liability insurance.

If the equipment is involved in any accident resulting in injury to persons or damage to property, immediate (within 24 hours) notice must be given to UKForks by telephone and confimed in writing to UK Forks head office.

Finish of hire

In order to terminate the hire of equipment, please contact our call centre on 0800 123 101. The Hire Controller will take you through the finish of hire procedure and provide you with an off hire confirmation number. Please note that once the machine has been off-hired, it is deemed not to be in action and should not be used after that period. The termination and collection period will be a maximum of 72 hours(not including weekends or bank holidays) from receipt of off-hire confirmation.

Damage procedure

When the equipment is being collected from the site, the driver will check the equipment for visual damage and note this on the collection paperwork. An authorised signature will be required for pass-over of equipment.

On arrival to the depot, the engineering supervisor will inspect the machine in full and raise an advice for damage as appropriate. This chargeable invoice (C.I.) will then be forwarded onto our head office, where a letter and invoice will be raised in respect of these charges and forwarded to your company within seven days.
